Distinguished Service Awards
Sifu Anthony & Sifu Rita Pasquale from United Martial Arts Center
Nominated by Brian Gordon, director of the Spotlight program at the North Shore Arc

(This was read at the ceremony this morning while we were excepting our award.)

"Anthony & Rita Pasquale (or Sifu as they are known to their students) are the owners of United Martial Arts Center for Health & Well Being in Danvers. These wonderful individuals have provided countless hours of their time and effort to provide martial arts instructor to the children attending Spotlight, all free of charge.

Their approach has been superbly effective in helping kids at Spotlight develop better focus, self esteem, gross motor skills, group interaction, self respect, and respect for others. Their continual kindness and generosity is deserving of the highest recognition by all."

New Assistant Instructors at UMAC

Congratulations to Assistant Instructor Adam Johnson & Assistant Instrutor Beth Davis.

UMAC Kick-a-thon for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital

This year Sifu Pasquale with 28 of her martial arts students raised $3,200.00. UMAC has sponsored 4 in the past & has raised a total of $18,000 & 5 families in the community have been impacted by this.

Sifu Pasquale will be selling pens by "Diane's Pen Pal's" for cancer research and patient care.
What if you could write-off cancer and put a smile on someone's face? It is Diane's Pen Pals' mission to carry on a tradition that was once started by a woman whose zest for life and people was reflected in the countless notes she sent to family and friends.

*Net proceeds donated to cancer research and patient care.If anyone is interested in purchasing one of the pens or making a donation to this cause ~ They will be available in our ProShop. For more information visit the webpage at

Recycle Program to help the Danvers Food Pantry.
If you use the coke machine here, please put your empty cans or bottles in the container next to the Coke Machine. Alex Torrance, a yellow belt student here at UMAC has started this program.

Help us to create the world’s largest collection of clothes to recycle. It’s called “Cotton from Blue to green”.
In conjunction with National Geographic Kids & Guinness Book of World Records , they help recycle old jeans into insulation which is then donated to organizations like habitat for humanity and other disaster relief agencies to help insulate houses. Bring your old jeans to UMAC by June 1st. This is Mekonnen Eon’s Leadership Show & Tell and he is 5 years old.
